  1. Vintage Lap Steel c.1950s

    November 23, 2016

20161103_131642Now I want to tell you a story about this beasty. We bought this Lap as a rough shaped piece of timber, a cool box and an even cooler hand wound pick up which still worked! We then set about bringing her back to scratch. This is what we’ve done

    1. refinished the  body in a black and brown hue whilst fabricating re pro vintage tort cover plates for the electronics section.
    2. Re line the case/box.
    3. We then installed new electronics and shielded the electronics  cavities. (she’s very quite for such an old single coil pick up).
    4. We then set up the lap with a brass (hand made) bridge, tail piece and ebony nut.

The tone is very vintage with the pick up having the character of an old P90.and the sustain is epic. Demo videos available on request

  2. “Craig” Custom Lapsteel

    November 2, 2014

DSCF7336“Craig” lap steel (with a difference)

Made in the US of A, the unique feature here is the Pat Pending tilt adjustable neck. A real piece of history. We can tell you that this is a 50’s baby. The addition of a genuine Gretsch roller bridge and pick up gives amazing tone and just look at that Pin striping!

Again the talented hand of Duane Brown (www.browncocustoms.com)

    $450

  3. National “Rosita” C.1939

America was not yet to enter the war when this baby was made. However the USA was building some fine instruments. This is one example of that time. We’ve brought her back to life with a neck reset and refret, everything is ready to go and the vintage tone shines. At $2900 here is a chance to have a pre war dream.

You know, sometimes our little parlor guitars just scream out to be …well something different.

To that end, that’s exactly what we’ve done here. The P90, the gilded paint work, the roadwearing, all come together to make something truly unique. Some will love it, some, not so much, but boring she is not.

For those who choose to love this one off vintage treasure

    $595

  5. National Bluegrass 35

    DSCF5054

National Bluegrass 35 compact resonator C. 1963 with molded Reso-glass body.

The First time I ever saw one of these cutie’s was back in 1992 at a Deborah Conway Gig. Deb was cute, however her Reso glass took the cuteness and “cred” factor to a whole new level. As you can tell it left quite an impression on me, even though most of you, dear readers weren’t born at that stage. I coveted one then and still covet one now. If I could “back door” it without the little lady finding out.  Listen to the intro of this song and you’ll get an idea of what our little girl sounds like, please excuse the second rate audio.

    $2500

  6. Dobro Resonator Guitar No.27 Circa 1933-36

    January 8, 2014

    DSCF5047 (Medium)

    Dobro Resonator

How cool is this? We don’t see many of this particular model, given that the building of most wooden Dobro’s of this period were being being “farmed out” to the Regal guitar Co.

This one however is all Dobro Resonator guitar and all original right down to the cone and tuners….

    History in the offing for:
