  3. Collings MT2 Full Gloss A-Style Mandolin

    November 28, 2017

We really don’t need to tell you about Collings instruments if your already looking at this post. Bill Collings started the company in 1973 and has made what can only be described as the Rolls Royce of American stringed instruments ever since. Bill passed away in July of this year and although this is a tragedy for the luthiery community; not to mention his many admirers in the playing community, there is no doubt that instruments built before his passing will increase in value. This mandolin brings together all of those thing that you would expect from Collings. Brightness with plenty of midrange cut and projection, and a slick action to round things off…. Just look at that flame! PS if you check around on prices, you’ll know what a bargain this mandolin is….

  4. Maton Flamingo 1963

    November 28, 2017

It’s hard to believe that this old girl is as old as me….. and like me, has done many, many gigs…. The action is sleek on account of the fret dress and set up just completed in our workshop.  I made a brass brake bar to increase the down pressure onto the bridge, and used the original tail piece mounting holes to fit the brake so as to not affect the originality. She is so lovely and is original right down to the fret wire. The patina and checking are sublime. She might be light in weight (3kg’s) but big on resonance and tone. Whether a collector or player, she’s just beautiful!

    $1500.00

    Inc. case

  5. Les Korn Archtop

    November 28, 2017

Les Korn is a reclusive character who makes only as few instruments a year. This Archtop has a very D’angelico Contemporary vibe about it right down to the headstock design…. This is a serious handmade professional instrument that is worthy of a connoisseur who will appreciate the fineries of the artist who built her. There are some things I wish I could keep for myself and this is one of them.

    • Serial no.: 14706
    • Made in Tucson AZ
    • Carved Englemann Spruce Top; Highly Figured Maple back/sides/neck

  6. Collings DS2H Slope Shoulder Dreadnought

    November 28, 2017

We really don’t need to tell you about Collings instruments if you’re already looking at this post. Bill Collings started the company in 1973 and has made what can only be described as the Rolls Royce of American stringed instruments ever since. Bill passed away in July of this year and although this is a tragedy for the luthiery community, not to mention his many admirers in the playing community, there is no doubt that instruments built before his passing will increase in value.  Some have described a Collings flat top as an orchestra in a box… this definitely rings true for this guitar… How can one guitar sound so big and fulsome? There is no doubt in my mind that this guitar will be gracing your home… or home studio for that matter. One things for certain and that is, you’ll have a friend for life… I think a quick check on the going prices will tell you that this is a bargain…..
